Más diversión para Doctor Who y Torchwood

El productor de Doctor Who y Torchwood, Russell T Davies, quiere cambiar un poco el rumbo de la serie con respecto a la tercera y primera temporada de las series, respectivamente. El marcado carácter oscuro de los capítulos, en el Doctor Who para crear el ambiente necesario para introducir al Master, mientras que en Torchwood por el poco tiempo de producción del que disponían, es algo que no quieren repetir en estas temporadas. Buscan capítulos más divertidos, del estilo que se vieron en la primera y segunda temporada del Doctor Who.

Es curiosa la apreciación que hace el productor, según el es más fácil hacer un guión oscuro que uno divertido.

“The key to series two is that we’ve absolutely cracked it with episode one – there’s more fun. Everyone worked so hard on series one, and it was done so fast, and darkness, again, is the thing that you grab hold of when you’re working that quickly, cos there’s a lot of story in darkness. It became a very dark series. If you watch the first episode, it’s got a pterodactyl, and an invisible lift, and a very witty Captain Jack… but we lost some of that, because of the speed of production. However, the first episode of series two is rip-roaring. It’s the sexiest adventure we’ve ever done, and Chris Chibnall’s finest hour.”

Yo, ya estoy echando de menos al Doctor Who, menos mal que la segunda temporada de Torchwood empieza dentro de poco…

Dos plugins más de wordpress para mi blog

Cuando me cambié a WordPress comenté los plugins que usaba por aquí. Desde aquella, ya he instalado dos nuevos plugins, uno que me ayuda a que las cosas queden bonitas, otro que que integra mi blog con Twitter.

  • WP-Chunk – Este plugin sirve para que los enlaces que ponga la gente en los comentarios nunca sobrepasen el ancho de la columna correspondiente, creando un aspecto bastante feo. Me resulta bastante útil, y básicamente por mi propia culpa, cada vez que alguien me pregunta por algo y pongo el enlace, soy tan vago que copio y pego una url de 3km tranquilamente. Ahora mi blog se encargará de dejarlo bonito por mí.
  • Twitter Tools – Este plugin básicamente integra Twitter con mi blog. Tiene un sidebar widget para poner automáticamente tus últimas actualizaciones de Twitter en las barras laterales, y te permite publicar entradas en Twitter a través de ese widget o desde el tablero de WordPress

Antes de terminar, un sitio que me está resultando útil para ver nuevos plugins que me puedan resultar interesantes es Weblog tools collection. Aparecen muchas cosas interesantes, pero obviamente uno debe limitarse bastante, demasiados plugins innecesarios, pueden hacer tu blog extremadamente lento y innestable.

Breves sobre TV: Heroes, Prison Break y Buffy

Se acerca el otoño. Se acerca la nueva temporada televisiva en Estados Unidos y las cadenas de televisión ya se ponen a promocionar sus nuevas temporadas.

De entrada, ya hay un vídeo promocional de Heroes (Vía: ALT1040), que mira que es pomposo, vamos que no me ha gustado nada.

Por otro lado, Chica de la Tele nos cuenta todo lo que tienen preparado para promocionar la segunda temporada mundialmente. Incluso de escenas inéditas que andan rulando por YouTube.

Lo de que Isaac se hubiese cortado la mano, habría mejorado mucho el personaje.

Por otro lado tenemos a Prison Break. La Fox ha puesto disponibles en internet los primeros 17 minutos de la tercera temporada, eso sí, solamente para residentes en Estados Unidos. Supongo que dentro de poco ya andarán por internet disponibles para todo el mundo (Vía: TV Squad)

Por último, las seis primeras páginas de la sexta entrega del cómic Buffy Season 8 están disponibles en la página de Dark Horse (Vía: Whedonesque).

Libros que me han prestado: Going Postal por Terry Pratchett

Pedro ha decidido prestarme un par de libros de Terry Partchett para que leyese lo primero de él en inglés original. Por supuesto yo encantado de que me presten libros de MundoDisco. Mañana os cuento cual es el otro que me han dejado.

Parece que Firefly no se quiere marchar todavía de los medios. Su último intento de conseguir convencer a otro estudio de que continúen la serie viene de mano de la edición de coleccionista de la película Serenity. Acaba de salir a la venta, y ya está de número cuatro de los dvds más vendidos en Amazon

Mal en serenity

Si queréis saber más detalles, es muy recomendable el análisis del dvd hecho por DVD Talk.

«We have done the impossible, and that makes us mighty.»

As the credits rolled the first time I saw Serenity, I found that I was not simply entertained by an exciting adventure … I was inspired. Based on everything I have come to know and expect from the Hollywood machine, this film should not exist, and yet here it is. This simply does not happen, and it took some time for me to collect my awe and exit the theater after that first viewing. But the victory is not confined to the film’s existence, for this is much more than some average little film made to appease the niche fans of a cancelled television series. This is a film for the masses, a bona fide kickass movie with wide-reaching appeal that will hopefully make it to the countless unaware viewers who would almost certainly enjoy it as much as the rest of us have. If you don’t own the first version of this DVD, then my recommendation is a no-brainer, as I enjoyed this every bit as much as the first time I saw it. If you’re wondering whether to purchase another one, however, I’d suggest that the DTS track, the cast commentary, and the «Filmmaker’s Journey» featurette are all worth owning, and the price point is reasonable enough to once again rate this title as Highly Recommended.

Mal en Serenity

Para el mes probablemente la compre, esta bastante barata en Amazon y además hay que aprovechar que el dólar está tan bajo con respecto al euro.

Sobre empieces de series de televisión

Esta semana, a través de reddit, llegué a esta página: Colors Pretty, la cual hace un análisis de los mejores y peores empieces de series de ciencia ficción y realmente no puedo estar más en desacuerdo. Mirar a quién ponen como uno de los peores.

¿Peores?, realmente este empiece puede ser uno de los pocos que no le doy al botón de adelantar cuando aparece en pantalla. Y, obviamente, uno se pone a cantar la letra mientras pasan las escenas de presentación de los personajes…

Serie que me han prestado: Extras

Me prestaron los dvds de esta serie recomendándomela mucho. Tengo que decir que no sabía nada de ella y de lo poco que he visto de Extras me ha encantado. Cuando termine de verla, ya la comento en más profundidad, pero si tenéis oportunidad de verla, no la desaprovechéis.

Jobsworth: …Whoa. Where are you going? You can’t come on here, it’s actors only.
Andy: I am an actor
Jobsworth: No, you’re background. Your bus is over there. This is for actors.
Andy: I am an actor.
Jobsworth: No, your voucher’s green, that means you’re background.

Maggie: He hasn’t.

Meet Andy Millman, Actor.

Never forgets his lines because he never gets any.

Andy (Ricky Gervals) is a desperate man. He’s been an actor for five years but thanks to his useless agent (Stephen Merchant), he’s never done any acting.

Instead he’s just a lowly film extra, walking around in the background while the stars do their lines.

Andy’s only friend in the world is Maggie (Ashley Jenson), a fellow extra and a hopeless romantic. While Maggie pursues the mand of her dreams, Andy decides he’ll do whatever it takes to get himself noticed.

Each episode takes place on a different film set and features cameos from guest starts including Ben Stiller, Samuel L Jackson, Ross Kemp, Kate Winslet, Lee Dennis and Patrick Stewart.
