Sobre este libro me enteré viendo el documental Revolution OS, donde una de las personas que salían entrevistas era precisamente el autor de este libro, Eric S. Raymond. Me pareció interesante lo que contaba, así que terminé comprando el libro.

En Google vídeo podéis ver el documental sobre el nacimiento de Linux: Revolution OS. El documental empieza por el nacimiento de la Free Software Fundation, la creación de GNU y el posterior nacimiento de Linux. hay diversas entrevistas a personajes claves en la historia, y momentos claves que llevaron a Linux a lo que es hoy en día, como puede ser la simple existencia de Apache. El reportaje es un pelín viejo ya, y la situación ha cambiado, pero se puede seguir disfrutando igual.

La asociación Aulusc (Asociación de Usuarios de Linux da Universidade de Santiago de Compostela) vuelve a colaborar en la organización de unas jornadas dedicadas al software libre. Aquí tenéis el anuncio

Os días 20 e 21 deste mes de setembro realizaranse as “II Xornadas de Software Libre na USC”, un evento de referencia para a intercolaboración dos LUGs galegos, co obxectivo de intercambiar experiencias, presentar relatorios e obradoiros referentes ao Software Ceibe.

Este ano, igual que o anterior, a temática principal versará sobre redes en GNU/Linux e outros sistemas Ceibes. Os principais temas de interese nesta edición son os seguintes:

Estamos cerca de la publicación del último libro de Harry Potter, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, y este libro, The End of Harry Potter? especula sobre cual será su final. Aunque como dice Pedro, realmente nos va contando todos los detalles, técnicas y historias que nos ha contado Rowling a lo largo de estas 6 novelas

A pesar del título, The End of Harry Potter? va casi todo sobre otra cosa. Se habla de los nombres, de las técnicas narrativas usadas por Rowling, de los hechizos, de los elementos que aparecen y revelan su verdadera importancia varios libros después, del los detalles todavía por explicar del pasado de los personajes, de los fallos, del plan de Voldemort, de las lecturas políticas (ese ministerio de la Magia más corrupto que otra cosa), de las relaciones con muggles, de cosas que definitivamente pasarán (por ejemplo, se sabe cuál es la última palabra del último libro) o de la recepción crítica a la serie.

Es curioso que me entere de esto a través de una página de noticias sobre teléfonos móviles… La BBC ha decidido publicar en su Web del Doctor Who la novelización del capítulo Human Nature, que se emitió hace un par de semanas por primera vez en el Reino Unido

El libro está disponible en pdf y formato de libro electrónico. Hay un programa para el Nokia N95 que me permitiría leer uno de los formatos de libro electrónico (en concreto es un formato para Palm), pero le hace falta usar una aplicación para Windows para poder pasarle el libro, y como yo no uso windows, pues no he podido probar el libro en mi móvil. Según la página web del fabricante, no tienen la mínima intención de portarlo a Mac u Linux.
